Microneedling is a treatment where a specialized device is used to create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin with fine needles. The small punctures stimulate the body’s natural collagen and elastin production to heal the wounds and rejuvenate the skin.
Microneedling can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns such as; fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone.
Before your procedure, you’ll come in for a consultation to determine your eligibility for treatment and discuss the skin concerns you wish to have addressed. On the day of your treatment, we’ll start by cleansing the skin. We’ll apply a topical numbing agent to minimize any discomfort. Once the numbing agent has been applied, we’ll use our top-of-the-line FDA approved microneedling device to perform the treatment. After treatment, we’ll provide you with care instructions to help your skin heal beautifully for best results!
Before treatment, we will apply a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. The needles on the dermaroller are tiny, fine needles which will not be painful. You can expect to feel a slight pricking sensation during the procedure.
After treatment, you should wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure for two weeks while your skin is still healing. For 48 hours post-treatment you should avoid wearing makeup and any skincare products that have exfoliants, retinols, vitamin C or acid ingredients. Avoid swimming, saunas, and intense exercise for 72 hours after microneedling.
Generally, we recommend starting with 3-4 microneedling treatments spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart. We can make specific recommendations for your unique skin and your skin concerns when you come in for a consultation. After your initial session of treatments, you can maintain your results by scheduling 2-3 microneedling sessions per year.
Immediately after treatment, your skin will be a bit red and sensitive until it starts to heal. As your skin heals, you’ll start to see results. The most dramatic results usually appear 4-6 weeks after treatment, depending on how fast your skin heals.
